Does body armor need to be custom fit?

Does it come in standard sizes (s/m/l/xl)? Is there one-size-fits-all?

Without knowing which class of body armor you are inquiring about it's hard to answer. The outer armor used in combat situations doesn't need to be custom fit. The body armor an MP would wear on base under the uniform, does come in the normal sizes, but for females they need to know bust size. Knowing the bust size allows for mfr to adjust the kevlar to fit the female better. Having customized body armor is much more expensive than off the shelf. Many military members who are in Law enformcement (MP or MA) would like to buy their own armor, but cost is prohibitive. Currently most Law enforcement personnel are only issued Level II body armor. where a field combat unit would be issued lvl iv with trauma plates.
